“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”  It is possible that human sight may lead a person to death, while being completely convinced that he or she is being lead to life.  There are two types of eyesight recorded in the Bible — God’s and yours and mine.  To see things the way God sees things, a new mind is necessary.  Why?  Take the example of John the Baptist.  The way he looked would not be highly esteemed then or now. He ate simple foods, dressed simply, and lived a simple life.  Nothing noteworthy.  However, the Bible says that heaven highly esteemed him.  Things of God cannot be seen with human eyesight.

Philippians 2 says “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”  We must be so close to Christ that He is in us and we are in Him.  To be by Him is not enough.  To be near Him is not enough.  To be right next to Him is not enough.  To receive the benefits of Christ’s mind, it must be in us.
